Tremr is a free, real-time earthquake monitoring tool and earthquake science publisher. We do not sell your personal data. We store as little as possible ourselves, and we use third-party services — including Google Analytics and, when advertising is enabled, Google AdSense — that may collect usage and advertising data as described below.
Tremr itself does not run a user-account system. The app runs in your browser. The only personal information we may collect directly is:
Separately, Google Analytics and Google AdSense may collect device, usage, and advertising-related data as described in the Third-Party Services, Advertising, and Cookies sections below.
Tremr uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
Tremr may use Google AdSense to display advertisements when advertising is enabled on the site. Google AdSense is operated by Google LLC. As a third-party vendor, Google uses cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to Tremr and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info/choices or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
For more information on how Google uses data when you use Google's partners' sites or apps, visit policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Tremr itself stores small values in your browser's localStorage: your theme preference (light or dark mode), language preference, and your cookie-consent choice. Third-party services may set additional cookies: Google Analytics (GA4) uses cookies to measure site traffic and user behaviour when analytics consent is granted. Google AdSense may set its own cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — for ad personalisation and frequency capping when advertising consent is granted. You can change your consent anytime using the “Cookie settings” control on the site, or manage cookies through your browser settings and the opt-out links listed in the Advertising section above.
When you first visit Tremr, we ask for consent before using non-essential cookies for analytics and personalised advertising. Until you accept, Google services run in a restricted Consent Mode where storage for ads and analytics remains denied. If you reject non-essential cookies, Tremr continues to work (including theme preference), but personalised ads and analytics cookies are not enabled. You can revisit this choice at any time via the “Cookie settings” control.
If you use the "Near Me" feature, your browser will ask for permission to access your location. This is processed entirely on your device and is never sent to our servers.
Tremr is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
